Ankylosing Spondylitis
Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the spine and sacroiliac joints, causing pain, stiffness, and, in severe cases, fusion of the vertebrae.
Symptoms:
- Lower back pain and stiffness, especially in the morning;
- Pain that improves with movement;
- Inflammation in peripheral joints and tendons.
Treatment:
- Medications: anti-inflammatory drugs, biologics (anti-TNF, anti-IL-17);
- Physical exercises: to maintain spinal mobility;
- Physiotherapy: to reduce pain and improve posture.
Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can prevent complications and maintain a good quality of life.
